Montage of art, the current "Mini-Shows" showing beside Alexia Scott's new painting show
This is a montage of art from artists showing in mini-shows at the Middle St. Gallery: art by Gary Anthes (photographs), Kathleen Willingham (abstracted landscapes), Ruthie Windsor-Mann (landscape painting and still life), Thomas Spande (drawings), and Bob Bouquet (stone sculpture). These artists will show a number of pieces, five or more each, at the same time as Alexia Scott's new show of paintings.
ALEXIA SCOTT and Mini Shows at Middle St. Gallery: Press Release
The Middle Street Gallery, an artists cooperative and gallery in Sperryville, will kick off its fall season with a special show spotlighting the works of five of its member artists. The show opens on Friday, Sept. 6, and there will be an opening reception for artists and the public from 2 PM until 5 PM on Sat., Sept. 14.
Painter Alexia Scott will show a suite of en plein air and studio studies of Virginia and the West. The title for her section of the exhibition is “Weeds, Wildflowers, Bugs and Fields.” New gallery member Kathleen Willingham will show her beautifully evocative landscapes. “These abstracted landscapes are about mood, texture and color observed, remembered or imagined,” she says. And Ruthie Windsor-Mann, another new member, will offer oil paintings from around Rappahannock County and one or more still lifes.
Meanwhile Thomas Spande will show an array of his trademark nuanced pencil and pen drawings of people, places and animals, and sculptor Bob Bouquet will show abstract and realistic works in Italian alabaster, black soapstone and pink marble. Finally, photographer Gary Anthes will show recent color images of the incredibly friendly and varied people of Cuba—both in Havana and on farms.
The gallery, located at Rappahannock Central at 3 River lane in Sperryville, is open Fri., Sat. and Sun. from 10 AM until 5 PM. For more information, please visit http://www.middlestreetgallery.org/ or call 540-987-9330.
